Humane Raccoon Trapping

Ever sound like someone is walking around in your attic? You probably have a raccoon problem or raccoons living in your attic. Raccoons in the attic can be a great nuisance to you, your home, and most important your attic. Raccoons enter attics by ripping open holes in the roof or soffit. Also raccoons can get into your attic by ripping of canned vents or soffit vents on your home. Once inside your attic they use your insulation for bedding and an area for habitat. In your attic raccoons will create a large mess of urine and feces. They also tear up your insulation causing energy loss in your home. Raccoon droppings can carry the eggs of ring worm which can be very harmful to humans. It's highly recommended to remove all of the damaged insulation and raccoon feces to prevent a health risk and energy loss in the home.

If raccoons enter your attic the best method for removal is generally by live trapping and relocation of the animal. The raccoons don't have to be harmed or killed unless they are diseased with rabies or distemper. They can be relocated generally a good distance away, approximately 18-20 miles away. At Michigan Bat Control we are licensed and able to relocate the animals with no problem.
In Milford, MI we once removed 18 raccoons from the home. This part of the home was never used the home owners were unaware of their raccoon problem. All the raccoons we removed were either removed by hand or by live trapping. The raccoons did over 10,000 dollars in damage to the insulation and attic framing. We removed all of the damaged insulation, sanitized, deodorized and re-insulated the attic.
Not only do raccoons enter your attic, but they also live inside your chimney above your fireplace. Raccoon removal in March and April is usually raccoons having babies in a fireplace. It is important to get rid of the mother raccoon in order to get to the babies. Onces the mother is removed we can go in and remove the babies or kitten raccoons by hand. We once removed over 8 raccoons from a fireplace in Linden, MI. A rope tied to a catch pole was used to pull of all of the raccoons inside the chimney stack. Once the raccoons were removed the chimney was cleaned and capped.
